NDC Member of Parliament of Parliament for Kumbungu, Ras Mubarak has revealed that he quit riding his bicycle to Parliament House because he picked intelligence that some enemies of his wanted to crash him to death with a tipper truck while riding.
He however failed to disclose the identities of the assailants.
The Legislator on November 6, 2018 rode a bicycle to Parliament House to register his protest against the unbearable living conditions in the country.
Wearing a pair of trousers, a reflector on top of a shirt, a helmet and a pair of trainers, the legislator rode on a 17 kilometre road from his residence in Accra to Parliament. (Location of residence reserved for security reason).
He said he decided to ride the bike to highlight the sufferings that many Ghanaians were going through, citing the increasing cost of fuel which had increased the costs of goods and services and laying of workers as some of the sufferings that people were experiencing.
He said the people did not have a voice, and as an elected official, he felt duty bound to raise awareness about the suffering of the masses.
Mr Mubarak indicated that he would subsequently ride more often to Parliament.
However speaking on Okay FM Monday, Ras Mubarak stated that he’s decided to heed the security advice given him, hence has parked the bicycle to avoid to his death.
“I had intelligence that some people had planned to crash me with a tipper truck while riding and turn round to accuse me of committing a mistake leading to the accident. So based on intelligence and security advice I’ve decided to stop riding it to Parliament largely because some people want to harm me, and I’ll take precautionary measure to avoid that happening.
“In this dispensation everything is possible and I love life, love my family, constituents and country so much to want to give them that pleasure of having a tipper truck to push me off the road.”
