Ghana’s Female National U-17 skipper Mukarama Abdulai has been awarded Golden Boot player of the 2018 FIFA U-17 Women’s World cup held in Uruguay.

The Northern Ladies striker was instrumental in the Maidens team at the tournament where she registered 7 goals and provided 3 assist in her side reaching the quarterfinals of the competition.

The heroine classic performance earned her the bronze ball award as well, despite been denied a semi-final place.

Mukarama Abdulai has also been named in CAF’s 15-woman shortlist for the Women’s African Player f the Year award.

The 16-year-old first caught the attention of the continent, scoring 12 goals in 4 games, helping Ghana’s Black Maidens qualify for the Under 17 Women’s World Cup in Uruguay.

The Northern Ladies forward then went on to announce herself to the world, banging 7 goals in 4 games at the world cup as Ghana exited at the quarter-final stage at the hands of Mexico.

Mukarama, in doing this broke Jane Ayieyam’s record of the most goals scored by a Ghanaian at the competition.

At 16, Mukarama is the youngest nominee on the shortlist which includes big names like reigning African Footballer of the year Asisat Ohoala, one 2015 winner Gaelle Enganamouit, and South African forward Chrestinah Kgatlana.
