Bayana Bayana’s free-scoring forward Chrestinah Thembi Kgatlana has been adjudged the Woman of the Tournament at the 2018 Total Africa Cup of Nations which ended at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday.

Thembi, 22, added the Top Scorer accolade to the Player of the Tournament gong after registering an impressive five goals at the end of the eight-nation tournament.

Despite threatening the goal area of the Nigerians a number of times in the final game on Saturday, Thembi missed the opportunity to register her name on the score sheet in their pulsating 0-0 thriller.

The Nigerians emerged 4-3 winners from the spot kick after the goal less thriller to lift their ninth trophy.

However, the former Olympian had done enough winning three Woman of the Match awards in previous games which earned her the golden boot as well as the Player of the Tournament award.

She scored the late winner in their 1-0 opening Group B game against the Super Falcons at the Cape Coast Stadium on November 18 and finished that game as Woman of the Match.

She currently plies her trade with Houston Dash in the National Women’s Soccer League in the USA.
