The University of Education, Winneba (UEW) is withholding the results of 176 students who were supposed to graduate this year for misconducting themselves according to the Vice-Chancellor, Very Reverend Father Professor A. Afful-Broni at the 23rd congregation of the university.

According to him at the event covered by MyNewsGh.com, the affected students were among a total of 956 graduating class of 2018 from the Department of French Education who were sent to Togo for some studies but conducted themselves in a manner that brought the image of the school into disrepute.

According to him, this nearly cost the university its scholarship schemes enjoyed by Togo and therefore the University Council decided to sanction the affected students by withholding the certificates for 6 months to serve as a deterrent to others.

”I am saddened to announce that, of the 956 being graduated today, management has had to take a painful, but good decision to withhold the certificates of all the 176 graduating students from the Department of French Education,” he revealed.

Reverend Father Professor A. Afful-Broni explained that the decision was based on thorough investigations by a committee that recommended to the University Council leading to the application of the prescribed sanctions.

”Let it be further recorded that this sanction is as a result of thorough investigations by a duly constituted investigative committee of this University,” he explained.

He warned that the UEW is committed to holistic education which includes moral education, adding that management of the university will not entertain any insubordination, misconduct, and misbehaviour in the school.
