Chief KwadasoThe involvement of Chiefs in politics is believed to have some dire consequences on their people

Member of Parliament for the Kwadaso Constituency, Dr Samiu Kwadwo Nuamah has urged Chiefs to refrain from politics in the country.

Commenting on the Dagbon crises on Thursday’s edition of Peace FM’s ‘kokrokoo’, Dr. Kwadwo Nuamah told host Kwami Sefa Kayi that the involvement of Chiefs in politics has dire consequences and so in order to ensure peace, they should make sure they don’t take sides by vouching for a particular candidate during campaign seasons.

The Kwadaso MP commended the efforts taken by President Nana Akufo-Addo to bring a peaceful solution to the Dagbon crises, believing that the Mediation Committee led by Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II will facilitate the peace process between the factions.

Touting some achievements of the Asantehene in enhancing peace, order and unity among Chiefs in the Ashanti Region, Hon. Nuamah was optimistic the agreement the Abudu and Andani feuding parties to perform the funerals of the late two Yaa-Naas of Dagbon will pave way for an amicable relationship between the two sides.

“Chiefs should abstain from politics. It’s very disturbing to see a Chief campaign for a particular candidate or be on a platform to campaign even though you will have some benefits as a candidate,” he stressed.
