Former President John Dramani Mahama has called on the delegates of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to elect national executives who can be trusted and are competent enough to lead the party to retake power from the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2020 elections.

He gave the advise as the NDC organises its Annual Delegate’s Congress at the Fantasy Dome of the International Trade Fair, today, Saturday, 17 November 2018 to elect its national executives.

The 9th National Annual Congress of the NDC will see 65 aspirants consisting of 59 males and six females contesting for various national executive positions of the party.

About 15,000 people, made up of 9,350 delegates and 5,650 observers, are expected to be at the venue.

The positions to be contested for are: National Chairman, Vice-Chairman, General Secretary, Deputy General Secretary, National Organiser, Deputy National Organiser, Communications Officer, Deputy Communications Officer, National Executive Committee Members and the Zongo Caucus Coordinator.

Mr Mahama in a Facebook post further called on the delegates not allow themselves to be influenced by gifts in deciding who to vote for.

The former president’s post read: “My fellow members of the great NDC, I have over the past few weeks criss-crossed the country and visited your constituencies with my campaign to lead our great party, the NDC, to victory in 2020.

“Across the seven regions I have so far visited, Ashanti being the latest, the message from our grassroots is one – ‘to unite and work to deliver Ghanaians from the unprecedented hardship imposed by the lying Akuffo-Addo administration.’

“The people of Ghana are ready and willing to change the negative course in the 2020 elections. We, the NDC, cannot fail them!

“To end this hardship by winning emphatically the 2020 elections, we must elect National Executives we can trust. Executives who are hardworking and committed to the noble Victory 2020 agenda.

“Do not allow yourself to be influenced materially to decide your vote. We must elect an executive that is trustworthy, competent and in which our diverse membership all have a stake.

“God grant us journey mercies as we converge at the Trade Fair Centre in Accra as one big Akatamanso family for our 9th National Delegates Congress.

“3y3 Zu!”
