The Senior Minister, Hon. Yaw Osafo-Maafo is in Singapore representing H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, President of the Republic, as a Founding Delegate at the Inaugural Bloomberg New Economy Forum from 3rd to 12th November, 2018.

The forum will engage leaders of the new global economy to solve the world’s biggest challenges through coalition building, events, news, analysis and expert perspectives.

Bloomberg is driven by beliefs in public-policy and the power of cities to drive solutions to pressing global problems with the aim of making the world a better place.

Ghana, as an emerging lower middle economy, will benefit from the Forum to impact development. It will also serve as an opportunity for the Senior Minister to showcase the strides achieved within Ghana’s economic sector as a result of the prudent economic measures pursued by the Government.

Recently, the Senior Minister led a delegation from the Ministry of Finance to the Annual Meetings of the World Bank and IMF in Bali, Indonesia. The Annual Meetings brought together Central Bank Governors, Ministers for Finance and Development, Private Sector Executives, Civil Society, Academia among others which discussed issues of global concern, including the world economic outlook, global financial stability, poverty eradication, jobs and growth, economic development, aid effectiveness and climate change.

The delegation had very productive meetings with bilateral and multilateral partners including the World Bank and IMF where specific requests were made for increased World Bank disbursements to assist address ongoing financial sector clean up as well as increased funding for education in Ghana.

Hon. Yaw Osafo-Maafo continued to Mauritius with Dr. Akoto Osei, Minster for Monitoring and Evaluation as well as officials of the Public Sector Reform Secretariat on a study tour of the country’s Public Sector Reform to learn from Mauritius’ best practices in its public sector towards the implementation of Ghana’s Public Sector Reform Strategy (NPSRS) launched by President Akufo-Addo on 8th August, 2018.
