This is the man police want to speak to about Vlakfontein murders

Police have confirmed that a man who posted an image of the inside of a fridge as his Facebook profile picture on Tuesday is being sought in connection with the gruesome discovery of seven bodies buried at a home in Vlakfontein in the south of Johannesburg.

Police told TimesLIVE that they were probing Sibusiso Ernest Khoza’s active Facebook page‚ saying that they wanted to speak to him in connection with the murders.

The fridge picture was posted just over 24 hours after the seven bodies were discovered – and after police had confirmed they were looking for Khoza.

“We are still looking for him. If he has nothing to hide‚ why doesn’t he come forward?” police spokesperson Captain Mavela Masondo said.

Masondo authorised TimesLIVE to publish Khoza’s pictures‚ saying that he was “a person that police are looking for who can help with the investigation”. Khoza has not been named as a suspect in the multiple homicide.

On Monday‚ a stench at the house in Vlakfontein led the police to a gruesome discovery. They found the bodies of seven people – three women and four children – buried under a pile of sand in a bedroom in the house. Masondo said the children were aged between two and 11 years.

A man taken in for questioning in connection with the murders is believed to be a boyfriend of one of the women found dead.
