The newly elected National Youth Organizer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), George Opare Addo, has warned that, the party will be forced to establish more vigilante groups if the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) does not disband its vigilante groups.

Speaking on Citi FM, the former Municipal Chief Executive Officer for the Akuapem Constituency condemned the vigilante groups of the ruling NPP for causing mayhem in various parts of the country as well as extending same to private individuals and state officials.

“The NDC will be forced to mobilize its own group for self-defense. We will create more groups to protect ourselves because if senior ministers under police protection are running for their lives, how much more we the ordinary people,” he asked.

According to him, the NDC currently has a vigilante group called The Hawks, which first emerged during the NDC’s unity walk in the Ashanti Region and if it becomes necessary, more of such groups will be created.
