The Normalisation Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has given the green light to Kumasi Asante Kotoko to participate in next year’s CAF Confederation Cup following a petition by the club to be considered for continental competition.

Following a consultative meeting in Accra between the Normalisation Committee and top executives of Premier League and Division One clubs, to deliberate on the future of Ghana football following the suspension of organised competitions in June, a consensus was reached that Ghanaian clubs would not participate in CAF competitions next year.

However, Kotoko petitioned the Normalisation Committee to reconsider its decision of October 19, stating the club’s readiness to participate in CAF’s second-tier club competition as defending champions of the MTN FA Cup.

n a letter to the chief executive of Kotoko on Friday, the Deputy General Secretary of the GFA, Alex Asante, noted that the football regulatory body had favourably considered their request and would, therefore, submit the club’s name to CAF as Ghana’s representative in the Confederation Cup.

It advised the Porcupine Warriors to ensure they complied with all club licensing regulations.
