Ursula’s resilience on Kelni GVG gives hope – Ken Agyapong

Communications minister Ursula Owusu

The Chairman of the Communications Committee of Parliament Kennedy Agyapong has praised Communications Minister Ursula Owusu Ekuful for her resilience in ensuring that all telecommunication companies in the country are connected to the common monitoring platform (CMP) being managed by Kelni GVG.

The CMP, which was launched by President Akufo-Addo Tuesday is to monitor telecom traffic in real time for the purposes of government’s revenue assurance, mobile money monitoring and fraud management.

The $89.4million which was awarded to Kelni GVG was a subject of massive controversy with IMANI Africa describing it as needless until its recent u-turn, which according to Owusu Ekuful was heeding wise counsel.

Commenting on the recent development, the Assin Central lawmaker eulogized the Communications Minister for being resolute amidst the controversies to ensure absolute compliance by the telcos to the CMP.

“I’ve been on the communications committee for long, the work they have done for the past 22 months is amazing,” he said on Accra based Oman FM.

“Ursula is my sister although I had issues with her but she deserves extreme commendations. We have to sell our success story. It gives hope to Ghanaians and the party faithfuls who are still looking up to have a share of the national cake,” he added.
