Accra, Oct.22 GNA – Benedict Anong, head coach
of the Cameroonian female national team, has said her team is very well
prepared for any opponent in the upcoming 2018 African Women Cup of Nations
(AWCON).

Anong, made this known in an interview with GNA
Sports, after the draw for the 11th biennial tournament at Movenpick
hotel, which housed Cameroon in Group A alongside host Ghana, Mali and Algeria.

According to her, qualifying for the
tournament meant that, they could meet any country that had also qualified,
irrespective of the group.

“The draw has been made and being in Ghana
group or Nigeria group is the same, because we have met so many times and most
of us are used to meeting each other in the final stage. We cannot say we want
to avoid the other from being in one group or the other.

“There is no way you can also sit down crying
because you went to a particular group and didn’t want to, because even if you
qualify from your Group, you would  still
meet the same challenges, and that would propel you to win the ultimate, which
is the reason we are coming” she said.

Anong, said though her team has prepared well,
they still have some few weeks to fine tune their preparations before the
competition starts next week.

“My team is still preparing, we have at least
three weeks, which means preparations are still ongoing, and like other
countries, we are coming to hit the most precious metal; gold, the reason all the
countries would be coming,” she noted.

The tournament, which starts from 17th
November to 1st December, 2018 at the Accra Cape Coast Sports
Stadium would see the top three winners representing Africa at the World Cup in
France, 2019.
