You don’t support creative arts; why the high expectation? – A Plus to Gabby

Ghanaian musician and political activist, Kwame Asare-Obeng, aka A Plus, has waded into the debate started by Gabby Otchere-Darko on the poor standards of local movies.

A Plus, has, in an Instagram post, urged Gabby to lobby politicians, particularly the incumbent government to pay the deserved royalties to musicians anytime they use their songs for campaign rallies.

“Somebody should tell Gabby Otchere Darko that the only way creative arts will be part of Ghana beyond aid is when government seeks permission from copyright owners like the owner of this song [3y3 me s3 day3so – Patience Nyarko] and pay her before using it to promote a political agenda,” he wrote in his post.

According to A Plus, he cannot fathom why Mr Otchere-Darko would demand quality from industry players who do not get any support from various governments including the Akufo-Addo-led administration.
