Tamale, Oct. 18, GNA – Mr George Amoh, the
Acting Executive Secretary of the National Peace Council, on Wednesday called
on key actors to find long-term strategies to address conflict issues to
prevent violence in the county.

According to him, the key actors should make
more progress policy, which would prevent conflicts issues to maintain peace.

Mr Amoh made the call during a closing
ceremony workshop on capacity building for Metropolitan, Municipal and District
Assemblies (MMDCEs) on conflict sensitivities in development.

The event, which was held in Tamale, was to
enhance the capacity of MPs and DCEs to identify early warning conflict signs
for necessary responses.

The Reverend Father Thaddeus Kuusah, the
Northern Regional Executive Secretary of Peace Council, urged the MMDCEs to
build strong collaboration with the National Peace Council to assist them
address some of the conflict issues in their areas.

He advised the MMDCEs to set up
community-based conflict monitoring systems with local monitors to produce
conflict and peace assessment reports, early warning reports, and policy to
disseminate to the key actors.
