Tamale, Oct, 17, GNA – Northern Regional Peace
Council (NRPC) on Tuesday organized a two- day capacity building workshop for
Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDCEs) on conflict
sensitivities in development to promote peace.

The event held in Tamale aimed was to prevent
violence and combat terrorism and crime in the region.

Tamale, Oct, 17, GNA – Northern Regional Peace
Council (NRPC) on Tuesday organized a two- day capacity building workshop for
Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDCEs) on conflict
sensitivities in development to promote peace.

The event held in Tamale aimed was to prevent
violence and combat terrorism and crime in the region.

Most Rev. Philip Naameh, the Chairman of the
Northern Regional Peace Council, said the MMDCEs should develop the mechanisms
needed to respond to conflict in their localities to stop all forms of violence
and related deaths in the Region.

He urged the MMDCEs to serve as the chairs of
the Security Committees and also plays a key role in settling disputes issue in
their areas. 

He said the MMDCEs should collaborate with
National Peace Council to raise awareness to stop conflict in their districts
to maintain peace.

Mr Solomon Namliit Boar, the Deputy Northern
Regional Minister, said the MMDCEs should educate the youth to avoid conflicts
in order to promote development in the Region.

He advised them to integrate conflict
sensitivity in their development plans and agendas to create a platform for
dialogue between the peace council to build a strong collaboration to feed
early warming mechanisms.
