Accra Hearts of Oak attacking midfielder Samudeen Ibrahim is set to begin a new life with Moroccan side Raja Club Athletic barely a week after he was put on ice by the Phobians for allegedly violating his contract.

The player’s manager, Micky Sadick, revealed to the Graphic Sports newspaper that Samudeen was on his way out of Hearts but debunked claims linking the player with a move to Guinean side, AC Horoya.

According to Sadick, who heads Micky Sports Management, the player’s contract with Hearts had run out contrary to claims by the club’s management that he was still contracted to the Phobians and subsequently handed him an indefinite suspension last week citing “multiple violation of the player’s contract”.

“Samudeen is out of contract because the contract was supposed to end at the end of the 2017/2018 league season and once the league has been suspended then the contract has run out.

Per FIFA rules, if you have about six months to see off your contract, you are free to interact with other clubs and locally some clubs have expressed interest but an agent from Raja Casablanca has also contacted us so we are negotiating with them,” Mr Sadick told the Graphic Sports.

Touching on the player’s suspension by Hearts, Sadick said: “It is the MD, Mark Noonan, who said he had suspended him, so once you suspend a player whose contract has run out, you are indirectly telling him that you cannot renew the contract so he should go.”

“I admit that he [Samudeen] not showing up at training was unprofessional, for which I reprimanded him. But I understand that at a point he was frustrated because his contract was running out and no one was saying anything about it.”

Last week, the club announced the infamous suspension of the 22-year-old midfielder, who joined the Phobians from Division One side, King Solomon FC in 2016, via a tweet on social media.

“The @HeartsOfOakGh management has suspended midfielder, Samudeen Ibrahim, indefinitely and with immediate effect for multiple violations of his contract,” the tweet read.

Samudeen finished the 2015/2016 Division One League season as the best player and joined the Phobians with the hope of continuing his excellent form but suffered a series of injuries.
