Last batch of Special Homowo Horseraces fixed for Saturday, October 13

Accra, Oct. 11, GNA – The last batch of
Special Homowo Horseraces meeting would come off on Saturday, October 13, at
the Accra Turf Club (ATC) new race course, near Borteyman, off the Accra-Tema
Motorway.

The event, would climax the races, which was
started three weeks ago and it would go on break for two weeks from October 20
to 27, 2018 and resume on November 3, 2018.

The races, which were organised by the ATC in
collaboration with the horse owners would engage horses in four group competitions
and spectators would see some thrilling performances.

The first race would combine Division ‘4A’ and
‘4B’ and would cover a distance of 1,400 metres dubbed: “Ngleshie Adanse Purse”
with eight horses in competition while the second race would involve nine
horses in Division ‘4C’ with a distance of 1,400 metres titled: “Teshie Purse.”

The Novies Division of ‘3A’, would cover 1,200
metres under “Made in Ghana” 14 registered horses in the competition
christened: “Tema Purse.”

The last race of the day would feature 13
horses in Division ‘3A’ and ‘3B’ maiden and would run a distance of 1,000
metres named: “Kpone Handicap.”

 Mr
Samuel Nii Armah Turkson, the Secretary to the Board of Stewards of the ATC in
an interview with the GNA Sports, said the gate would be opened at midday with
the first race taking off at 1330 hours.

He said a token of GH¢2.00 would be charged at
the gates.

Mr Turkson appealed to the Ministry of Youth
and Sports to come to the aid of horse racing in the country.
