Barring any unforeseeable challenge, Ghana will soon see some Turkish manufacturing giants, especially, those in the garment and textiles industry; establish their presence in the West African country complement those already in business.

This follows a series of successful sideline meetings of the Turkey-Africa Economic and Business Forum between a Ghanaian delegation of some government officials and businessmen and women led by the Minister of Trade & Industry, Hon. Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen and investors from Turkey including the Executives of Turkish Garment and Textiles Chamber.

The two-day forum which commenced on Wednesday, October 10 to 11, 2018, is under the theme “Invest in a Sustainable Future Together: Turkey and Africa”. The forum provides a platform for the business circles from African countries to develop new partnerships which aim to build together, produce together, sell what’s produced together and share the profit.

Under the Industrial Transformation Plan being implemented by the Ministry of Trade and Industry, Garment and Textiles is one of the strategic sectors selected with special focus to create massive jobs for Ghanaians and to generate foreign exchange through export.

The Turkish Garment and Textiles Chamber, kasapafmonline.com understands, is poised to send a delegation to visit Ghana to prospect for partnerships in the sector in the coming weeks.

Inside sources say the Minister of Trade & Industry also closed a deal for a Turkish company to establish a One-District-One Factory project in the Shai Hills area.

It is however not clear what that manufacturing company will be producing.

Among the government officials who accompanied Hon. Alan Kyerematen to the forum include Ambassador Salma Frances Mancell Egala and Dr. John Asiedu, an official of Ghana’s Embassy in Turkey.
