The former Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister under the erstwhile John Mahama administration, Joseph Yammin has challenged President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to pay his appointees if the economy is not in crisis.

President Nana Akufo-Addo has said he expects the country to be firm in order to handle the current economic difficulties.

Though the President said the country had not reached the stage of a crisis, he acknowledged that the average Ghanaian was in difficulty.

It would be recalled that early this year, Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) in Ashanti Region complained of their accumulated salary arrears.

According to them, the government has refused to pay their salaries since they assumed office in 2017 accumulating up to a year in arrears.

Joseph Yammin speaking in an interview with MyNewsGh.com urged President Akufo-Addo to admit that Ghana’s economy is far from difficulties.

Yammin justifies his position with the claim that President Akufo Addo cannot pay his numerous appointees because the economy is in crisis.

“As I am talking to you now, government appointees are complaining over their arrears but they are afraid to come out. Since their appointment, they have not been paid. President Akufo-Addo should just admit that the economy is in crisis but not difficulties under his incompetent administration. I am challenging President Akufo-Addo to pay his appointees if the economy is not in crisis” he dared.

Joseph Yammin, however, appealed to Ghanaians to save Ghana from Nana Addo’s government by voting massively for NDC in the 2020 general elections.
