The public is angry over recent cases of “missing bonuses” after main electricity credits run out.

According to some persons who have suffered similar plight, they did not get any explanations from the vendors they went to purchase the credits from.

“I swiped the card on the meter after the credits run out but nothing happened. I actually thought, the meter had developed a fault. I went to an ECG vendor to cross check if it was a mistake or my card had actually corrupted but the card was functional. So I bought credits to recharge the meter and the power came back on,” Nana Yaa Baafi averred.

“Indeed I have gotten such complains but ECG does not give us any explanation for this problem. Other vendors have complained of same, but we don’t know what to tell customers because we don’t know what is going on with the ‘missing bonus credit’ issue,” a vendor who pleaded for strict anonymity told Asempanews.com

Rumours circulating about this development suggests the Electricity Company of Ghana ECG are seeking ways to take back reduction on electricity charges facilitated by the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission, PURC, earlier this year.

Residential customers were given 17.5% reduction while non-residential customers got tariffs cut by 30%.

Meanwhile calls to office of the electricity distributing company went unanswered.
