Accra, Oct. 1, GNA – Mr. George
Lutterodt, former President of the Ghana Athletics Association (GAA), has
declared his intention to vie for the presidency of the Association, in an
election billed for this year in December.

Mr. Lutterodt in an interview with the GNA
Sports said, he aspires to put the dying sport on the high level again.

According to him, Athletics which used to
attract high spectatorship to the stadium has gone down the drain, hence his
decision to contest.

The GAA is expected to go for Congress in
December to elect executives to run the association for the next four years and
Mr. Lutterodt is expected to pick a form soon.

“Athletics used to be on the rise but what we
see now can’t be compared to the past and it needs to be revived,” he said.

The 62-year-old believes coming back to revive
athletics was in the right direction and stressed for the need for change.
