Yieleh Chireh, MP for Wa West

Member of Parliament for Wa West, Mr Yieleh Chireh, is pushing for sanctions against National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) officials over the donation expired food items to flood victims by Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

The former Health Minister under former President John Dramani Mahama claims the incident was a deliberate attempt by some elements within the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), to sabotage the future presidential ambition of Dr. Bawumia.

He believes the incident should be thoroughly investigated so the perpetrators are punished.

Speaking to Rainbow Radio’s Parliamentary correspondent, Afia Kwarteng, the legislator said when donating items to victims of a disaster, you don’t give them items that would kill or worsen their plight.

“What I can say is that, the Vice President has taken the blame because he handed over the items…If the thing had been good, the political outcome would have been good for the Vice President. So if you were seeking political goodwill and it turned out to be bad, he can be blamed also. For me, I believe people want to sabotage the Vice President in case there is room for him to become president. The incident was from within. It cannot be an outsider. It was from within his political.”

He described the matter as an unfortunate incident and opined people are always doing things to negatively affect the second gentleman of the land.
