Accra, Sept. 26, GNA – The Office of the
former President Rawlings on Wednesday assured the public that he is in good
health and able to meet his daily routine activities.
It said former President Rawlings was not
rushed to the hospital as erroneously published by a section of the media, on
Wednesday, September 26, 2018.
A statement, issued by Mr Kobina Andoh Amoakwa
of the Former President’s Communications Directorate, and copied to the Ghana
News Agency in Accra, however, said the former President was admitted at the
Cardiothoracic Unit of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital a week ago, as a
precautionary measure to manage a low blood count condition.
It said the primary cause had since been
detected and managed.
‘‘The medical team who managed him have not
recommended any further treatment outside the shores of Ghana. The former
President has no immediate plans of seeking medical treatment outside the
country,’’ it stated.
The statement expressed appreciation to all
well-wishers, who called or sent messages of concern.
It said Mr Rawlings also expressed gratitude
to the doctors and nurses at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital for their care
during his stay at the facility.
