Accra, Sept. 26, GNA – The Independent
Committee constituted to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting
of seven young men to death at Manso Nkwanta in the Ashanti Region submitted
its report to the Vice President on Wednesday.

The report has been forwarded to the Attorney
General for study and advice.

This was announced in a statement issued by
the Office of the Vice President and signed by Alhaji Abubakar Saddique
Boniface, the Minister of State at the Office of the Vice President, and copied
to the Ghana News Agency in Accra.

The setting up of the Independent Committee
was necessitated by the different versions of the circumstances that led to the
shooting and killing of the seven men, who reportedly lived in Asawase, a
suburb of Kumasi, by the Police on Tuesday, July 17, 2018.

“Government wishes to have the matter resolved
in a short possible time,’’ it said.

The Office of the Vice President expressed its
condolences to the bereaved families and assured that all efforts would be made
to bring a closure to the unfortunate incident.
