Luka Modric Voted As The Best FIFA Men’s Player 2018

Real Madrid superstar Luka Modric was voted as The Best FIFA Men’s Player 2018 at a glitzy ceremony on Monday night, to finally end the 10-year reign of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

The Croatian captain was already crowned UEFA Player of the Year last month and added his prestigious FIFA award to his collection.

Modric was in fine form last season, as he lifted four trophies with Real, and also spearheaded his country to their first ever FIFA World Cup final, where they eventually lost out to France in a 4-2 drubbing.

The 33-year-old was also voted Player of the Tournament in Russia as well as at the FIFA Club World Cup.

Modric pipped his former Real teammate Ronaldo and Liverpool’s Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah to the award.

The award saw Modric become the first player other than Ronaldo and Messi to lift FIFA’s The Best award since Ricardo Kaka back in 2007, ending the 10-year reign of the superstar duo.
