Accra, Sept. 24, GNA – A car dealer was on
Monday granted a GH¢100,000.00 bail with two sureties by an Accra Circuit Court
for allegedly appropriating GH¢110,000.00, the proceeds of a vehicle belonging
to a mechanic.

The Court, presided over by Mr Emmanuel
Essandoh, asked that one of the sureties should be a public servant earning not
less than GH¢1,000.00.

Michael Kuntu Blankson pleaded not guilty to
stealing and he is to make his next appearance on October 15.

Police Chief Inspector Grace Bandoh, told the
Court that, Stephen Oppong, the prosecution witness is a resident of Bubuashie,
in Accra.

On March 29, this year, Blankson took delivery
of an unregistered Hyundai Matrix 4×4 with its documents from Oppong, to sell
for him at GH¢110,000.00.

She disclosed that Blankson, after selling the
vehicle bolted with the money until his arrest on June 11.

She said in his caution statement that, the
accused person confessed selling the car to one Bernard and refunded
GH¢30,000.00 at the Police Station.

He also pleaded for some time to refund the
rest of the money and he was granted police enquiry bail but he jumped it and
was brought to Court on a bench warrant.

His counsel, in praying for bail, said the
buyer only paid GH¢30,000.00 and efforts to get him had proved futile.
