Wulomei ready to spice up African legends night on Saturday

One of Ghana’s foremost traditional music band, Wulomei is set to fully entertain patrons of the upcoming Vodafone African Legends Night on Saturday 29th September 2018.

Founded in 1973, Wulomei has been doing indigenous Ga music with ‘Atenteben’ bamboo flutes and traditional local percussions that include the giant gombe frame drums, which provide a deep percussive “bass-line”.

The music group plays old Ga and Liberian sea shanties, gome songs, and the ever-popular kolomashie and kpanlogo recreational songs of Accra and also Akan highlife music.

To portray the band’s indigenous orientation, Wulomei’s performers, as expected, will be in their traditional white or yellow cloth and frilly hats, reflecting traditional priests and priestesses of the Ga people in Accra.

According to Global Media Alliance, organizers of the event, Wulomei’s contribution to the Ghanaian music industry has been immense hence the decision to create a platform to have their fans enjoy their music.

For the first time in many years, music lovers will also witness “Mr Music Man” Kojo Antwi, Dancehall icon Samini and lover-man Charles Kwadwo Fosu aka Daddy Lumba performing on the same stage in Ghana.

The 7th Edition of Vodafone African Legends Night will start at 7:00 pm at the Kempinski Hotel in Accra and is expected to attract hundreds of music lovers.

African Legends Night is sponsored by Vodafone, Alomo Bitters, Eden Heights, Alisa Hotel, Phoenix Insurance, Sun Seekers Tours, Global Cinemas and Silverbird Cinemas with media support from YFM, Happy FM, TV3, Citi FM, Starr FM, ETV, GHOne, Ghanaweb, Archbert Premier Media, Daily Guide, B&FT and Graphic Showbiz.
