Eastern Music Awards 2018 launched in Koforidua

The second edition of the Eastern Music Awards has been launched in Koforidua.

The event is organised by Hi 5 Empire in collaboration with the Eastern Region Chapter of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) and the Presenters Association of the Eastern Region (PATER).

In attendance were the President of MUSIGA, Bice ‘Obuor’ Osei-Kuffour Richie Mensah and CEO of Lynx Entertainment who took turns to educate musicians on Copyright and Artiste Management related issues respectively.

The launch and seminar was was held at the Linda Dor Plaza in Koforidua on September 22, 2018.

The Chief Executive of Hi5 Empire, Lynette Gold appealed to corporate bodies and individuals to lend a hand to their worthy cause of promoting music in the Eastern Region.

“Even though have some sponsors we are financially handicapped. We are just trying hard to put the Eastern arts on the map and if you’d want me to kneel and beg for your support, I will gladly do so,” she pleaded.

The Municipal Chief Executive of New Juabeng Ike Appaw-Gyasi who was the Chairman for the launch said there are a lot of talents in the Eastern Region who, by the presence of Obour and Richie Mensah would be encouraged to be part of the Eastern Music Awards.

He added that “Arts and Culture is the catalyst for growth in every country all over the world. If we make a mistake of not promoting the music industry, then the nation has no future.”

Also present were Owoahene K. Acheampong, President of the Presenters Association of The Eastern Region – PATER, Peter Marfo (President of the Eastern Region MUSIGA), the media and musicians in the Eastern Region.

Some musicians who were also present to perform are Prophet Peter Akunor, Koo Kyei, Nuru Shaba, Nayo, Amazyn Gee, Fada Garza, and Blaq Syrup.

The MC for the launch was Dr. Prekese, Drive Time Host on Bryt FM and Programmes Head for Joy Daddy Multimedia.

Nominations are opened from September 22nd to October 22, 2018, after which voting will commence from October 27 to December 05. Voting will, however, be based on 60% Public votes and 40% Board decision. A Nominee’s Jam will be on November 10, 2018.
