Parents should regularly visit their wards in school

Domase (Ash), Sept. 21, GNA – Mr. Samuel Addai
Agyekum, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Sekyere-Kumawu, has encouraged
parents to pay regular visit to schools to monitor the behavior and assess the
performance of their wards.

Quality education delivery was a shared
responsibility and it was important that parents visited their wards’ schools
to interact with teachers, become conversant with the academic performance and
attitudes of their children at school.

The DCE was speaking when he led a team of
officials of the district assembly to the Domase D/A Primary School, as part of
the “my first day at school” programme.

The visit was to motivate and help the young
children who were in school for the first time, to stay in school.

The team also visited other basic schools in
Woraso, Oyoko, Akrokyere, Abenaso and Kumawu, where they distributed school
bags, biscuits and fruit drinks to all the kids in the Kindergartens (KGs) and
primary one.

Mr. Agyekum said regular visits could assist
to sustain the interest of pupils at the tender age in school and at the same
time, strengthen the relationship between parents, community members and the
school authorities.

The assembly was working to improve
educational infrastructure to increase access, promote quality education and
retain children in school.

He advised the pupils to take their studies
seriously to enable them climb higher, the educational ladder.

Mr. John Ankrah, the District Coordinating
Director, asked all to recognize the importance of education and said it was
the way forward to make the lives of youth meaningful to the society.

Nana Antwi Agyei II, the Presiding Member of
the Assembly, underlined the need to move quickly to fix school structures,
which were in deplorable state in the area.

Mr. Paul Antwi Oppong, the District Director
of Education, urged teachers to continue to work hard, show passion for the job
and to take good care of the children placed under their care.

He reminded parents and community leaders to
support teachers’ to effectively discharge their duties.
