Nigeria Move Up to 48th on Latest Fifa Ranking

The Super Eagles of Nigeria have moved up a place to 48th on the latest Fifa world ranking of national teams.

According to the new placing released Thursday, the Eagles garnered 1415 ranking points, 5 more than the previous month.

This comes after a successful international break that saw the Gernot Rohr-led side record back-to-back victories against Seychelles, in an Afcon 2019 qualifier, and in a friendly against Liberia in Monrovia.

Following the new ranking, the Eagles are now the fifth best side on the continent behind Tunisia, Senegal, Congo DR, and Morocco.

World champions France and Belgium make history by becoming the first sides to share the no 1 spot since the rankings began 25 years ago.

Belgium smashed Scotland and Iceland during the international break to join France atop the rankings, after Les Blues bounced back from a goalless draw with Germany to beat Netherlands in the UEFA Nations League.

Former World champions Germany rose three spots to 12th, while five-time champions Brazil remained unmoved on the third spot.

The next ranking of national teams will be released on October 25.
