Accra, Sept.20, GNA – Management of Mel
Consulting Limited has provided technical and financial support towards the
eighth edition of the pre-harvest exhibition and conference slated for October
3 to 5 at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium in Tamale.
Mrs Lucy Quainoo, the Director of External
Relations of International Trade Mel Consulting, at press briefing in Accra on
Thursday, said the company was supporting with GH¢100,000.00.
“This year we seek to support more farmers to
attend the exhibition and the conference,’’ she said.
As part of the operations the company provided
technical assistance for the growth and development of the agri-business
sub-sector, she said.
She said the company decided to support the
conference because most of the farmers and their activities were situated at

were focusing on bringing agribusiness to the north, hence the company’s
support to the conference.
As part of the technical support the company
would train farmers in agronomy to manage their farming activities, she said,
and that all the support were geared towards achieving food security and
promoting the Ghana beyond Aid agenda.
Ms Alberta Nana Akyea Akosa, the Executive
Director of Agrihouse Foundation, said the event was expected to see a bigger
participation as more famers, farmer groups and businesses in the sector had
She said this year’s edition had attracted
many inputs from the private sector and international organisations, which
would make it an exciting experience.
“We expect a much larger number of
participating exhibitors and conference attendees this year, judging from the
early signals we are picking up,” she said.
Ms Akosa said: “Agribusiness is the way to go
in poverty reduction and national development. I am elated and grateful to the
various institutions that have seen wisdom in this idea and have supported it
over the years.”
She called on other organisations to lend
their support so as to build a stronger and bigger agribusiness sector.
