Accra, Sept. 20, GNA – Interplast Limited, a
plastic fabrication company, has affirmed the desire to train farmers in
modernised ways of installing irrigation facilities that will boost their
production especially during the dry season.
The Pre-Harvest Agribusiness Exhibition and
Conference scheduled to take place on the September 3 – 5, 2018, at the Alui
Mahama Sports Stadium in Tamale, will see various stakeholders in the agric
sector engaging in discussions to transform agriculture in the northern sector
and provide long term market development opportunities for the less privileged
farmers.
Mr. Haidar Malhas, the Irrigation Services
Manager of Interplast, said at a press briefing that, they remain poised in
assisting farmers, who patronise their product with the technical know-how of
installing irrigation mechanism on their farm.
”Our services are not only commercialized but
also providing services that will help farms install the irrigation system,
that’s why we want to train them with the basics, so that they can do it on
their own and also reduce cost.
”We want to provide this service to ensure
that, the product we are offering is well utilised and also to help sustain it,
and the more farmers know how to use the product the happier we become,” he
said.
He further stressed on the affordability of
the product and how they are engaging with various financial institution and
the government to support farmers in the acquisition of the irrigation
materials that will improve on their yields.
”We don’t intend making any profit on the
training programme for farmers and we are also engaging financial institution
who will help provide credit terms to help farmers patronise the product and we
are also currently engaging the government on exempting tax on this particular
product to help reduce cost,” he stated.
Meanwhile, participating farmers at the 8th
edition of the Pre-Harvest Agribusiness Exhibition and Conference organised by
Agrihouse Foundation, will get a 10% discount on all Interplast products
purchased.
