Accra, Sept. 21, GNA – Mr Samuel Ayim, the
Executive Director of Centre for Transformational Leadership in Africa (CTL
Africa) on Wednesday said Ghana needs a value-based transformational leadership
for development.

“We need to agree, adopt and inculcate values
at all levels of our national life to help transform our nation for the
better,” he said.

Mr Ayim was speaking at the launch of the
Second edition of the Live2lead 2018 slated for October 12 at the College of
Physicians and Surgeons in Accra.

He said “we can debate and agree on the values
but some of the values must be obvious to us all.”

He said the country needed a new Ghanaian, a
new Ghanaian leader, who was ready to stand for truth, honesty, hard work,
humility, wise planning, common sense, self-discipline (self-leadership) and
generosity.

The event will simulcast in more than 300
locations across over 30 countries on the theme: “Shift”.

The Executive Director said leaders needed to
embrace a shift in order to be successful and make the necessary impact on
citizenry with their leadership skills.

He said “with all natural and human
resources endowments, how do we explain the endemic poverty among the vast
majority of our people while a few ‘create, loot and share’ of the state
coffers as if they are without a conscience.”

“The lamentation is endless, but we cannot
continue like this. We need a drastic shift. We need a change, not only in
mindset but also in ‘heart set’,” he added.

He said as a country “we need leaders who
value the people enough to work to add value to them not to take away
everything God has given them including their dignity.”

He said leaders’ need a shift from the poverty
mentality, which for him was the cause of the greed and corruption that has so
far characterize all levels of leadership, even in our churches.

The Executive Director called on the media to
help redirect the discourse and share the new shift agenda.

He said this year there would be a special
session with Uncle Ebo Whyte as he talks about his own life and the shifts he
made.
