Foam manufacturing firm, Ashfoam has expressed interest in becoming the headline sponsor of the Ghana Olympic Committee from 2019.
This was revealed by the Marketing and Communications Manager of Ashfoam Nana Yaw Ampem Darko Antwi when executives of the GOC called on the company at their head office in Accra
The decision according to Nana Yaw Ampem Darko Antwi comes on the back of fruitful discussions between the company’s hierarchy and GOC President, Ben Nunoo Mensah.
Nana Yaw Ampem Darko Antwi said that his company is committed to supporting sporting disciplines which do not enjoy much backing from the government and that he is convinced that with the right investment Ghana sports will rise again.
“The most dominant sports discipline in Ghana now is football. Our focus is to help sports people or disciplines who do not enjoy support from the government. That’s what we want to do. I have known the Ghana Olympics Committee for a long time. Even last year my kids wanted to watch the Olympics Games but they did not see any Ghanaian in the competitions. What are we leaving for the next generations? Olympics promote tourism. We met Nunoo Mensah and we agreed to come on board. We want to help the lesser known sports to become more popular”, he said.
The President of the GOC, Ben Nunoo Mensah described the potential union as a privilege and lauded Ashfoam for the initiative.
“A very big thank you to the brand Ashfoam. You have said that its privilege and it’s the same from where we are coming from. Ashfoam is a big brand in Ghana and for you guys to allow the GOC to be part of your brand is a big privilege. In doing that you are not only doing your corporate social responsibility but you are also young men and women to achieve their dreams. Ghana has so many talents but they hardly get people to support them achieve their dreams, he said.
