Nabdam District Assembly outlines measures to improve on BECE performance

Nabdam (U/E), Sept. 19, GNA – Mrs Agnes
Anamoo, District Chief Executive (DCE) for the Nabdam District in the Upper
East Region, has outlined some measures to address challenges confronting the
performance of pupils in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

Nabdam (U/E), Sept. 19, GNA – Mrs Agnes
Anamoo, District Chief Executive (DCE) for the Nabdam District in the Upper
East Region, has outlined some measures to address challenges confronting the
performance of pupils in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

Mrs Anamoo said the assembly has begun
supporting the District Education Directorate with fuel and means of transport
to undertake activities such as monitoring and supervision.

She said basic education is the pillar on
which higher education thrives and the Assembly has constructed a number of
basic education facilities including classroom blocks that would aid the
children build good foundation.

Mrs Anamoo said this in an interview with
Ghana News Agency at Nangodi, the Nabdam district capital.

She said government was committed to providing
quality education to develop the constituents in the Nabdam area.

Mrs Anamoo said provision has been made to
honour the best teacher and pupil in the District to motivate teachers and that
the Assembly would not relent in supporting any educational institution that
has intentions to help boost education performance in the area.

Mrs Anamoo said the Assembly is collaborating
with some Non-Governmental Organizations and has furnished the Kongo Junior
High school with a computer laboratory furnished with computers to promote the
teaching and learning of Information Communication Technology (ICT) subject.

Mrs Anamoo called on parents and stakeholders
to support sustain the double track system under the free Senior High School
programme

She said it was a measure that would help to
bring about sanity and improve on quality of teaching and learning in the
schools.

Mrs Anamoo said under the double track system,
teachers would be able to teach and have enough time to assess the required
number of students in a class “because the double track would reduce and allocate
the required numbers to a class”.
