One of the developers, Jonathan Nartey told
the Ghana news Agency on Wednesday that, Land guards numbering about 20 and
armed with guns and cutlasses last Saturday allegedly attacked developers at
Prampram
Accra, Sept. 19, GNA – Land developers in
Prampram have called for the arrest of Land guards in the area who are
terrorizing them at gun point, creating insecurity in Prampram and its
environs.
One of the developers, Jonathan Nartey told
the Ghana news Agency on Wednesday that, Land guards numbering about 20 and
armed with guns and cutlasses last Saturday allegedly attacked developers at
Prampram, in the Ningo/ Prampram District, threatening them with death.
He said they were working at a construction
site when suddenly they saw a convoy of four Pick Up vehicles approaching the
site at top speed and stopped at the site where they were working.
The gun and machete wielding land guards
ordered them to stop working on the land, amidst firing of guns, warning them
to vacate the land or else they would be killed.
Nartey said they had no option but to report
the matter at the Police Head quarters in Accra to stop the land guards from
terrorising innocent developers in the area.
Nartey said they believe a group of armed land
guards calling itself “UN”, based in Accra led by one “Asafoatse” is
responsible for the attack and called on the Minister of National Security and
the Interior Minister, to as a matter of urgency, investigate and arrest the
group to enable land developers to freely work at their sites.
He said the group told them that “their
leader, one Asafoatse, has ordered them to stop us from working on the land,
but we told them the land is our family land and that was when they started
firing their guns, and warning us to leave the site or else they would have no
option than to “finish” us.
“So we left the site in fear to save our dear
lives, after which we lodged a complaint with the Police”, Nartey narrated.
