Accra, Sept. 16, GNA – The Chancellor of GH
Media School, Reverend Dr Kofi Osei Kusi, has challenged the newly enrolled
students of the institution to benchmark themselves against the best, which
would transform and make them competitive on the job market.

He, therefore, encouraged students to equip
themselves with the requisite knowledge and hands-on skills that would make
them relevant.

“You should benchmark yourself against the
best with depth of excellence, and I believe it will take you far in your
chosen career,” Dr Kusi advised.

The Chancellor gave the advice at the 10th and
First Matriculation of the GH Media School and GH Cosmetology School in Accra
at the weekend, held on the theme: “Modifying vocational training to address
current industrial challenges”.

He cautioned the fresh men and women of the
School to desist from bad company, and rather take their studies seriously, in
order to accomplish their vision in life.

In all, 400 students were admitted into the
institution out of which 353 would pursue media studies, while 47 would study
cosmetology.

They took the Matriculation Oath and pledged
to comply with the rules and regulations governing the institution and suffer
the consequences thereof should they go contrary.

Mr Leslie Addo Listowell, the Rector of the
School, in his welcoming address, outlined the cardinal principles of the
School, including offering hands-on skills, practical learning environment and
industrial standards.

“We’re committed to training passion-driven
students to achieve greater heights in both media and cosmetology,” the Rector
explained.

GH Media School was established in 2013 with
13 students and currently boasts of more than 1,000 students offering diploma
programme in media studies and cosmetology.

It is under the supervision of the Technical
Examinations Unit of the Ghana Education Service.
