Support Prospela to undergo eye surgery, mother appeals

Soliga (U/E), Sept. 13, GNA – Mother of Miss
Prospela Suglad, a seven year old Kindergarten pupil in the Nabdam District of
the Upper East Region is appealing to members of the public for financial
support to enable her daughter undergo eye surgery.

Madam Masakiya Mbami, told the Ghana News
Agency, that her daughter developed the swollen eye after a particle from an
Air-bony tree fell into her eye six months ago and several attempts to get a
cure has proved futile.

Miss Suglad, who is in Kindergarten Two at the
Zua Primary School in the District, dropped out of school later due to her
deteriorating condition.

Madam Mbami said she has taken Suglad to the
Bolgatanga Regional Hospital and the Tamale Teaching Hospital for medical
examination where she was referred to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital for
Specialist care.

“But as it stands now I have run out of
financial resources and cannot afford the cost of travelling and other medical
expenses to get the cost of the surgery”, she said.

Madam Mbami said her hope was for Prospela to
become a medical officer in future to take care of her when she grows old and
appealed to members of the general public, philanthropists, Non-Governmental
Organizations, government agencies and individuals among others to support her
daughter with some finance to regain sight to continue her education.

When the GNA sought to know from Prospella her
future ambitions, she could not talk, but sobbed in pain.

Mrs Agnes Anamoo, District Chief Executive for
the area, assured Madam Mbami of the Assembly’s support for Miss Prospella to
undergo the treatment, and urged other organizations to come in and support,
since the Assembly could not do it alone.
