The head coach of Ghana’s under-17 team, Abdul Karim Zito, is waiting anxiously on the fitness of his dependable left-back Abdul Samed ahead of Saturday’s West African Football Union (WAFU) U-17 championship final with Nigeria.

The Dreams FC youth team defender, one of the revelations of the ongoing WAFU tournament in Niger, injured his left hand in the Black Starlets’ 2-1 win over Cote d’Ivoire in their- semi-final match on Wednesday and has since been receiving treatment by the team’s medical staff.

Zito revealed to Graphic Sports Online that Samed was back at training and was on the mend, but his capacity to feature against Nigeria was dependent on a final examination by the medical team.

“Abdul Samed is recovering but whether he will play or not lies with the medical team,” Zito told Graphic Sports Online on Friday.

“We will go to training today and see as the medical team will undertake a fitness test on him.”

Samed has featured in all of Ghana’s games and has been one outstanding for the team.
