Tarkwa (W/R), Sept. 13, GNA – A Tarkwa circuit
court has granted a 30 year-old farmer, Yaw Asumadu, GH¢10,000 bail, with two
sureties, for allegedly defiling a twelve year old girl.

Asumadu, who pleaded not guilty on the charge
of defilement, would re-appear before the court on Monday September 17.

Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Faustina
Celestina Anaman, told the court that, the victim lives with her parents at
Akotom, with the accused also residing in the same village.

She said a month ago the victim’s mother asked
her to fetch cocoa yam suckers from the accused after close of school.

Chief Inspector Anaman said the victim invited
two of her colleagues to accompany her to Asumadu’s farm.

The prosecutor said when they arrived, the
accused person sent the victim’s friends to go and harvest sugarcane from a
nearby farm.

Asumadu then took the victim to a single room
on his farm where he keeps his goat and had sex with her on a ‘lazy chair,’
after which he offered her GH¢2.00.

She said days later, the victim’s mother sent
her again to go and thank the accused person after school.

The accused took advantage and had sexual
intercourse with the victim again, after which he offered her another GH¢2.00
and warned her not to inform anyone.

A week later, Chief Inspector Anaman said
Asumadu met the victim while she was on her way to the farm and demanded to
have sex with her, but she declined and he threatened to kill her if she told
any one of the affair.

The prosecutor told the court that the victim
later started experiencing severe pains whenever she attended to nature’s call
and informed her mother about her ordeal.

She said a complaint was lodged with the
police and the accused was subsequently arrested and a medical form was issued
to the victim to seek medical attention.
