Wa, Sept. 12, GNA – The Ghana News Agency in
Upper West in collaboration with the Gender Desk of Wa Municipal Assembly have
opened a donation book to raise funds to support a 13-year-old girl born
without rectal passage.

The amount that would be raised from
philanthropic individuals and organisations would be channelled for medical
attention of the girl (Name withheld) who was born 13 years ago with rectal
passage problem.

She hails from Egu-Zeng Charia, a suburb of Wa
and equally suffering from asthma, hearing and visual problems, making her
condition complicated for her family alone to handle.

Madam Agness Tungbani, grandmother of the
child who doubled as the guardian told the GNA that since the girl was born
without anus, it had been difficult for the child to pass out stool normally.

She said she required several medical
check-ups and investigations since her childhood, but due to financial
constraints, she [the grandmother] could not do much as expected of her after
her biological mother abandoned her and absconded to an unknown location.

She said one operation was done to correct the
condition, but did not help much as the situation was reversed after few years.

Management of Upper West Regional Coordinating
Council at a short ceremony with officials of the Wa Municipal Assembly
attended by Mr Abdul Salam Kadiri, the Municipal Co-coordinating Director and
Deputy Municipal Coordinating director as well as Hajia Lailatu Issahaku, the
Municipal Gender Desk Officer among others expressed their readiness to
collaborate with GNA to raise funds to support the girl.

Mr Abdul Salam Kadiri, Municipal Co-ordinating
Director said the Assembly was ready to partner GNA in whichever form to
support the little poor girl per the good intention by the country’s News
Agency.

The GNA together with the Assembly and Social
Welfare Directorate have opened a donation book at the GNA office in Block C,
Ministries, in Wa and appealed to philanthropists, Non-Governmental
Organisations and other benevolent groups to support the girl in dire need of
