The day two of the interment ceremony of the late Ghanaian Diplomat, Kofi Annan has rather been greeted with agitations over the decision to keep his casket closed.

Many people who thronged the International Conference Centre expressed their disappointments.

The latest to add its voice is the Baamuhene of Akwamuman, Nana Kwadwo Anum who described the closure as untraditional.

He explained that, the closure of the casket is not in sync with the Ghanaian way of honouring the dead.

Nana Kwadwo Anum noted that, the people of Akwamu are very angry because they have been taken for granted.

He said they have the right to view the body of the late Kofi Annan, whose mother hails from Akwamu.

Nana Kwadwo Anum noted that, government failed to consult the traditional authorities in deciding to keep the casket closed.

“Kofi Annan is our son. His mother comes from Akwamu and so to show respect to elders of the land, we are asking them to allow us to view the body of our son. We won’t take it lightly if they refuse us” he warned on Adom News.

The day two of the ceremony is expected to see, Leaders, Ministers, Parliamentarians, Diplomats, and other dignitaries pay their respect by filing past the mortal remains of Mr. Annan.

Today’s event according to reports has so far recorded low patronage from such important personalities.
