Bolgatanga, Sept. 11, GNA – The Deputy Upper
East Regional Minister, Mr Frank Fuseini Adongo, on Monday said the Bawku West
District was enjoying a number of development programmes.

He mentioned a number of educational
programmes designed by the Assembly to sensitise the constituents on the double
track educational system introduced as one of the government’s flagship
programmes connected to the free SHS policies, improvements of the Agricultural
sector, education, health, improvement in the water supply system as well as improved
sanitation.

Mr Adongo who is also the Member of Parliament
(MP) for Zebilla disclosed this in an interview with the Ghana News Agency
(GNA) in Bolgatanga and said government had dispatched about 326 steel double
desks to the District Education Office for distribution to schools and pledged
to provide more.

He said he had in addition assisted farmers
with farm inputs and also provided financial assistance from his MP common fund
to a number of brilliant but needed students.

According to the MP, he had personally
encouraged the Assembly to rehabilitate the maternity block of the Zebilla
District Hospital which was currently at lintel level and added that with
support from the National Health Insurance levy, the Zebilla District Hospital
Mortuary was also under construction and would be fitted with new facilities
when completed.

On the recent floods, Mr Adongo said the toll
on farmers was too harsh as most farms were submerged and appealed to
Government, individual philanthropists, and corporate institutions to come to
the aid of those victims in the district.

The Bawku West District is host to both the
White and Black Volta Rivers and most farmers farm around the banks for soil
fertility purposes.
