Ada (G/A), Sept. 9, GNA – Mr Joseph Miazer,
the Greater Accra Regional Director of Feeder Roads, has assured the people of
Ada that roads in the area would soon be rehabilitated to alleviate their
transportation difficulties.

Mr Miazer gave the assurance when he led a
fact-finding team of technocrats from the Department of Feeder Roads to inspect
road networks in the Ada West District.

The inspection tour was as a result of
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s promise to the chiefs and people of Ada
to repair the deplorable roads when he participated in this year’s Asafotufiami
Festival.

It would not be too long when road contractors
would be seen on site after the completion of procurement processes and project
requirements, Mr Miazer said.

Mr Adjoteye Akrofi, the Ada West District
Chief Executive, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, said the road
networks within the District were in deplorable state making vehicular and
human movement very difficult.

He said he had the privilege to brief the
President during his visit to Ada of the challenges of the people, especially
the appalling nature of the roads.

“The Ada West District has 180 kilometres
stretch of road but only 14 kilometres has been asphalted while 10 kilometres
has bitumen surface. The remaining 156 kilometres is in a deplorable state and
unsafe for road users,” he said.

He said this was affecting economic activities
of the people as they found it difficult to transport salt and food stuff and
also made accessibility to tourists’ sites very challenging.
