Place more emphasis on education, Tijaniyya Muslim Movement urges public

– The Tijaniyya Muslim Movement of Ghana (TMMG) has called on its members to
place priority on the education of their wards as it is the key to the
development of Muslim communities in the country.

Speaking at the 2nd
quarter delegates’ conference in Accra, Sheikh Abdul Wadud Cessay, the
President of TTMG, said the Movement would continue to invest in education and
other social infrastructure.

He said the
construction of a Tijaniyya University College is on course, adding that plans
are far advanced to start the accreditation process for the school.

Sheikh Cessay said
the curriculum for the various courses to be offered by the University have
been developed and registered with the National Accreditation Board and waiting
for approval.

He expressed
optimism that the accreditation would soon be given to enable the university
college start its operations.

“We are also
not leaving behind the health sector, as plans are far advanced to construct a
health facility in the name of the Tijaniyya Muslim Movement of Ghana at
Koforidua in the Eastern Region”, he added.

Sheikh Cessay called
on factions of the Tijaniyya Muslim sect to unite towards the development of
the country, as well as the Islamic religion.

He said the
Tijaniyya Muslim sect has a lot to offer to the development of the country and
it is only through unity that it can be realised.

A communiqué,
adopted at the end of the conference and read by Alhaji Khuzaima Mohammed
Osman, personal assistant to the National Chief Imam, said the TTMG would be
collaborating with the Narcotics Control Board and other agencies in the fight
against the abuse of tramadol.

He said the TMMG
have forged a formidable alliance with the Ga-Dangme Muslim Council for the
organization of this year’s national moulid in Accra.
