It has emerged that former Gender Minister, Otiko Djaba has not communicated her decision to reject her new role as Ambassador to Italy to the Presidency.

Acting Communications Director of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Adomako Baafi says the former Gender Minister’s decision has not been officially communicated to either the government or the party.

“…it has not been officially communicated to the government so everything you are asking me is based on the media report,” he said.

Joy News sources at the presidency have also confirmed same.

Otiko Afisa Djaba disclosed her decision to turn down the ambassadorial role to Daily Graphic in an interview.

She stated that she is taking a step back from politics to spend more time with her family and also to look after her ex-husband who has suffered a stroke.

“I cannot abandon him now,” the former Minister told Daily Graphic.

Until the recent reshuffling of ministers by the President, Mrs Djaba was Gender and Social Protection Minister.

Before joining the Akufo-Addo government in February 2017, Mrs Djaba was the NPP National Women’s Organiser.
