Bondam Adu Entsenyi Joshua II, Chief of Gomoa Kyiren, in the Central Region,
has successfully mobilised over 30 people in the town to form a Coconut
Farmers’ Co-operative Society.

To sustain their interest in the recently
launched Coconut Plantation Programme by Government, Osabarima Joshua II has
released 30 acres of land and also procured some GH¢3,000 worth of hybrid

“Ahobakese” festival of the chiefs and people of Gomoa-Kyiren at the weekend.

He was hopeful that inhabitants of the town,
who have registered with the association, would be encouraged by the assistance
he had offered to intensify their activities to achieve the set goals under the
National Coconut Plantation Programme.

Osabarima Joshua II said he intends mobilizing
more people to embrace the coconut plantation programme, saying that, coconut
farming has become one of the most lucrative economic ventures in the world.

He appealed to government to ensure speedy
rehabilitation of the Kyiren–Kwanta, Asempanyin, Ngyiresi, Broto and the Gomoa
Sampa roads to facilitate farming and other activities in Gomoa and surrounding
areas.

He urged parents and guardians in the town to
instill discipline and hard work in their children to enable them to become
useful citizens in future.

Mr. B. Nkoom, Gomoa West District Chief
Executive, advised people in the community to fully embrace the coconut
plantation programme to enhance their finances and improve their living
standards.
