Former High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Ambassador James Aggrey-Orleans, has said late UN Secretary-General, Kofi Annan, was a man of values and those values were seen in his conversations.

According to him, Mr Annan was firm in his decisions and not a pushover.

Ambassador Aggrey-Orleans told Chief Jerry Forson on Ghana Yensom on Accra 100.5FM Monday, 20 August that: “If we find that an assessment of him over his career gives us a legacy, then it is also our moral duty to protect that legacy, this you can say for any great man.

“He has left us a legacy of understanding, a legacy of all our leaders and people getting together like the Charter of the United Nations, to pursue the course of peace in accordance with the principles of the United Nations Charter.”

He added: “Kofi was a man of values and you could see that from his conversations. He was no pushover.”

Patrick Hayford, former High Commissioner to South Africa, also said: “Mr Annan was humble, he respected everybody despite the age of that person.”

The Ghanaian diplomat died in Berne, Switzerland on Saturday 18 August 2018, at the age of 80.
