Accra, Aug. 16, GNA – The United Nations
Populations Fund (UNFPA) has donated five computers and their accessories to
the University of Ghana School of Medicine and Dentistry and Public Health to
help them deliver on their mandate.

Mr Niyi Ojuolape, the UNFPA Country
Representative in Ghana, said as part of the UNFPA’s role in training midwives
among others, this was an opportunity to provide support to the school to aid
their work.

He said the school, was an institution
assisting in training health professionals, health specialists for the
hospitals, and “if one wants to effectively treat patients or provide cure,
prevent morbidity and mortality it depends highly on the training they get from
the schools.

He therefore pledged their continuous support
to the institution when the need be.

Professor Margaret Lartey, the Dean of the
School, expressed gratitude to the UNFPA for the support and said the donation
would go a long way to help the Department of Community Health to aid their
activities and that will also enhance healthcare delivery in the country.

Prof Lartey called on other institutions to
emulate the UNFPA’s gesture and also support the school in cash or in kind to
aid their activities.
