Ricketts-Hagan writes to officially declare intent to contest

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Cape Coast South, Kweku G. Ricketts-Hagan, has written a letter to the General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to officially declare his intent of contesting the party flagbearership race.

The letter dated Friday, August 10, 2018, a copy of which has been sighted by Kasapafmonline.com in part read “It is with great humility that I write to officially confirm that I will be candidate in the upcoming NDC flagbearership race to elect a presidential candidate for the election of 2020″.

The Cape Coast South lawmaker’s letter brings to eight (8) the number of people who have officially declared their intent to contest the party’s flagbearership race scheduled for December 7, 2018 at a yet be announced venue.

Some of the party faithful who have officially written to declare their intent to contest the flagbearership race are Prof. Joshua Alabi, Sylvester Mensah, Stephen Atubiga, and Dr. Ekow Spio-Garbrah amongst others.

Ricketts-Hagan commenting further said he was particularly grateful to the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party for having declared the campaign for the flagbearership race, noting that the gesture now gives him the opportunity to proceed to officially launch his campaign to enable him take his case to the party members dotted across the length and breadth of the country.

” As I go round, I hope to share a new vision, a new start and a new direction anchored on our principles and values accountability, probity, social justice and transparency that will give us a realistic chance of winning back powers in 2020″, the letter in part further read.

He is very confident that the NDC if well strengthened and invigorated to reflect the moderns aspirations of her people, will continue to remain relevant to Ghanaians “because it is naturally the only political party in Ghana that can genuinely develop the resource nature has endowed us with, sustainably by making use of full mobilization of talents and energies of our people, to get us out of poverty, improve the living conditions of out people, and hold a better prospect for our future”.

Mr. Ricketts-Hagan assured of conducting a decent campaign devoid of any negatives and abide by the party’s rule of engagement in conducting the presidential primaries.
